Volunteer With Us

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Allegheny GoatScape. We have a strong community of volunteers who are vitally important in helping to care for our herds.

Project sites are typically around the Greater Pittsburgh area. Please complete this form if you are interested in individual or group volunteering. Projects are based on the needs of AGS but may involve cutting unwanted vegetation, setting up fencing, and various other activities.

Volunteers can help with:

  • Morning/Evening care

  • Outreach events, GoatFest, school visits, etc.

  • Barn maintenance and general "fixing-up"

  • Fence set-up/tear-down

  • Cutting unwanted vegetation

About Volunteering

Individual Volunteering

Individual volunteers help project set-ups and herd moves and with daily check-ins with the herd that are vital to the herds’ health and well-being.

Group Volunteering

Group volunteer events are a great way to support Allegheny Goatscape! Get your group involved by setting up a volunteer day with us.

Volunteer Requirements:

  • Attend an orientation session, and commit to a weekly check-in or set-up

  • Volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by an adult volunteer

  • Must be able to lift 30-40 lbs. on occasion

  • For winter care: must be willing to scoop stalls

  • Volunteers should be prepared for all types of weather & be aware that the goats are often located in landscapes with uneven terrain, poison ivy, thickets and ticks
