Allegheny GoatScape is looking to hire part-time:

Seasonal Field Staff (up to 20 hours/week)

Allegheny GoatScape seeks an energetic and reliable person who enjoys working outside with animals, plants, and people, and wants to help improve our environment through a unique means of invasive plant control in and around Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Our field staff are vital members of our small organization, performing formidable but fulfilling work.

We are seeking someone who can begin their workday in the morning and see the daily projects through, usually starting at 9am and finishing by 2pm on a typical day, 3 to 4 days a week. Shifts may begin earlier with longer breaks during hot conditions, and severe weather may cause significant scheduling alterations.

This position requires reliable transportation, self-motivation, and organization. Candidates must comfortably lift 50+ pounds regularly, work with large animals, and navigate uneven post-industrial terrain in occasionally rugged weather conditions. This role involves regular communication and collaboration with GoatScape staff, with occasional independent work.

Ideal candidates for this position are comfortable with outdoor labor and public interaction (both one-on-one and in groups). Prior experience with farm animals or landscaping is essential, as is some basic plant knowledge.

Time & Compensation:

  • $18.00/hour, up to 20 hours/week; working holidays paid time and a half

  • Monthly mileage reimbursement and phone bill reimbursement up to half of phone bill (max $50); monthly health care stipend after 30 days

  • Working season: April to November
